Dr. Michael Hunter is Certified by the American Board
of Pathology in Anatomic, Clinical, and Forensic Pathology; and Currently Practices as a Medical Examiner (Forensic Pathologist)
in Panama City Florida.
I would like to introduce myself and explain a little about what I do for a living.
As an active medical examiner and board certified forensic pathologist I am routinely involved in the investigation of suspicious
deaths. I work closely with law enforcement agencies and other forensic specialists to obtain relevant information, examine
deceased individuals, recognize and maintain evidence; and establish the factual aspects of a death in order to come to a
medical opinion as to what happened to that person.
A central activity of a forensic pathologist is the performance
of autopsies and the detailed documentation of the postmortem findings. It is by this documentation that we can assist the
families, those in the legal profession, or other interested parties in obtaining a clear and impartial set of facts from
which a medical opinion as to the cause and manner of death can be rendered.
An additional part of my job is educating
others about what a medical examiner does and explaining some of the real limitations that we confront in forensic science
and specifically forensic pathology.
